The Battle is over

posted Sep 18, 2011 11:41 PM by Tim Schraepen   [ updated Sep 19, 2011 3:32 AM ]

After two days of fighting in the Kievit Terminal in Antwerp, some of us have come out victorious, others wounded, but thankfully no dead.
In the category Speed Slalom Men it was Jimmy Fort (FR) who took first place, leaving his teammates Loic Pasquier (FR) second and Julien Kerbrat (FR) third. Romain Lebois (FR) finished 4th.
Speed Slalom Women was won by Clémence Guicheteau (FR), who won the final knock-out round against her Rollerbug teammate Tiffany Derisbourg (FR). Caroline Kerbrat (FR) followed in her brothers footsteps and took 3rd place over Océane Loutrein (FR).
Highjump was won by Axel Viscard (FR) who jumped over 1m35d officially (but in fact jumped 1m40 on sunday), Julien Kerbrat (FR) took 2nd by jumping over 1m30, and we have a shared 3rd place with our belgian hero Jessy Van Winghem (BE) and ukraine's "not a pro" skater Roman Kharytonov (UKR).
Freestyle Battle Women was brutal, especially the final, but in the end, Ksenija Komarchuk (UKR) came in first place (with a 2 to 1 decision), followed closely by Megan McIntosh (USA), leaving 3rd and 4th place for Clémence Guicheteau (FR) and Maria Eggert (DE) respectively.
And last but not least, the Freestyle Battle Men competition was won by Romain Lebois (FR), Roman Kharytonov (UKR) came in second, third place was for Artur Grigoryan (DE), and Tim Schraepen (BE) got 4th.

Full results will be posted very soon.
In the meanwhile, you can check out the pictures that were taken by Mihai Gornea.

!HouseRules!

posted Sep 8, 2011 10:46 AM by Tim Schraepen

Participants will be reminded of these house rules once we are all there, but just to give you guys a heads up, here are the House Rules of BattleBelgium2011.
  • There will be absolutely NO leaning against the glass. People leaning against the glass will first get a warning, when they get caught a second time, they will be requested to leave the station.
  • Skating inside the station is NOT permitted. It is ONLY permitted in the Event Area. Once you go up the stairs, skating is strictly forbidden. If station-security catches you on skates going to the toilet or buying sandwiches or whatever, you might get thrown out of the station and they will not let you in anymore. We will make it a point to announce this fact every 15 minutes, but please, spread the word so we don't have to deal with this unpleasant situation.
  • When in Battle, and this is very very important to us, you can NOT leave the area when it's not your time to skate. There will be no "quick practices" in the practice area, no chatting with the coaches, no chatting with your friends that are not in the battle. This shows a high level of disrespect to your opponents and we will simply not have that at BattleBelgium. But by all means feel free to challenge your opponents, and have fun with them. After all, they are your friends, and friends don't disrespect friends.
  • Mi casa es su casa - my house is your house, so treat it like it was your house.
